For over 40 years, I’ve dedicated my life to martial arts, combat sports, and the study of real‑world violence. With more than 25 years of teaching and coaching experience — and over two decades competing — I bring a depth of knowledge shaped by thousands of hours on the mats, in the ring, and in real‑world environments where consequences are immediate.
Alongside my martial arts journey, I’ve worked extensively as a conflict management trainer, teaching people how to recognise, manage, and respond to aggression. This includes:
I’ve also spent years working in the private security sector, where the consequences of violence are immediate and unforgiving. These experiences shaped my belief that training must be:
This blend of martial arts knowledge, behavioural understanding, and real‑world experience forms the foundation of the training ethos at Kenka Combat Academy.
As a former SIA trainer and conflict management instructor, I’ve seen how watered‑down training creates false confidence. Too many systems teach techniques without context, pressure, or accountability.
At Kenka Combat Academy, we do the opposite.
We focus on:
We coach students for competition, but that’s only a small part of what we do. Most of our students are everyday people who want:
We hope our students never face violence — but if they do, they’ll be ready.
At Kenka Combat Academy, we train hard — not for ego, not for toughness, but because pressure creates confidence.
When you train honestly:
Confidence doesn’t come from theory.
It comes from doing the work, pushing your limits, and discovering that you’re capable of far more than you thought.
Every student, regardless of age, background, or experience, receives the same high‑quality training. There are no shortcuts, no diluted versions, and no “easy” paths.
Real self‑defence requires:
We train every student to a standard that reflects that.
Kenka Combat Academy exists to prepare people for the real world — not for fantasy scenarios. Our training is built on experience, pressure, and principles that work when it matters most.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced martial artist, my mission is to help you build real skill, real confidence, and real capability — safely, honestly, and with purpose.
